Video evidence presented at the trial "corroborated the victim’s testimony," authorities said.
A Connecticut man was found guilty this week in connection with charges imposed following a March 16, 2020 shooting that wounded a then 41-year-old man, according to state judicial authorities.
Jermaine Rose, 34, of Hartford, was found guilty of the first-degree assault, criminal possession of a firearm in violation of Connecticut law, and carrying a pistol without a permit, according to state judicial authorities.
Authorities said Mark Thompson, now 45, of Manchester, was wounded in the shooting.
Further, authorities said, evidence presented at trial showed that officers who responded to the 911 call on March 16, 2020, found Thompson on Wethersfield Avenue and he was taken to Hartford Hospital to be treated for a gunshot wound. Authorities said Thompson went to Wethersfield Avenue after “receiving a call at work regarding a domestic situation involving children.
“After speaking to the defendant about the domestic situation, the defendant said to the victim, ‘Wait ’til I get you alone,’ and proceeded to leave the scene before stopping, exiting his vehicle and shooting the victim in the leg,” authorities said in a statement.
Video evidence presented at the trial “corroborated the victim’s testimony that showed the defendant firing a gun at the victim before leaving the scene,” authorities said in the statement. “Evidence also showed that the defendant is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing a firearm or obtaining a pistol permit.”
Rose’s sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 21, 2024 at Superior Court in Hartford.
