Pedestrian fatally struck by pickup truck on Route 9 in Berlin

A man was killed on Tuesday evening after he was struck by a pickup truck on Route 9 in Berlin, state police said.

A man, later identified as 42-year-old Damian Liberda of Berlin, was reportedly walking in the far right lane of Route 9 South in the area of Exit 33 when he was struck by a Toyota Tacoma driven by a 37-year-old man from West Haven just after 6 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the Connecticut State Police.

Liberda suffered serious injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene, state police said.

The collision is under investigation.
