Sports briefs: Marin Academy falls at San Domenico tournament
Freshman Trystan Standfield scored all six of his points in an energetic race to the finish for Marin Academy, but the rally effort came too late as the Wildcats fell to Maria Carrillo, 56-42, Thursday during the San Domenico Invitational at Dominican University’s Conlan Center.
Senior Jermaine Standfield led the Wildcats (3-9) with 16 points and eight rebounds. Senior Sam Eisler added six points and five rebounds for Marin Academy, ranked 17th in the North Coast Section Division V. Marin Academy is scheduled to visit the Bay School on Dec. 28, before opening BCL play against Stuart Hall on Jan. 5.
Senior Nathan Dipman led the Division III Pumas (7-4) with 14 points and eight rebounds, while Otto Lenhares and James Hillestad finished with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
- Semetri Carr and Jase Butler combined for 47 points but Branson’s unbeaten run through the Platinum Division at the Tarkanian Classic in Las Vegas ended on Wednesday following a 78-65 loss to Desert Mountain of Arizona. Kaden House scored 43 points to lead the Wolves past the Bulls (7-2). Carr had a team-high 24 points for Branson while Butler added 23.
- Branson eventually settled for fourth place after falling 56-55 against St. Augustine on Thursday. The Bulls trailed by double digits late in the first half before rallying to take a brief lead in the third quarter.
Boys soccer
Marin Academy played in its second game at the Capitol City NorCal Showcase, falling 1-0 against Davis on Thursday.
