O’s lease is 15 years and still too generous | READER COMMENTARY
Obviously, Gov. Wes Moore must have a secret lease he is not sharing. The lease terms between the state and the Orioles are for 15 years, but could be for 30 if we give in to the hostage demands of John Angelos (“Wes Moore: Orioles lease a win for Maryland,” Dec. 20).
If the governor is so hell-bent on giving away state property, he should do it the right way. Let the Maryland Stadium Authority put out a Request for Proposals and let the best bid win.
It’s embarrassing that the governor is putting personal friendship and politics over doing what is best for the state. Governor Moore, this is not the Robin Hood Foundation where you gave things away, but the state of Maryland where the state’s interest comes first.
