This Is A Wonderful Sign – Former Derby County Star Encouraged By Rams

Former Derby County star Shaun Barker pointed out that the Rams are winning games when they are not at their best and believes it to be a wonderful sign for the team.

Derby secured three points against Lincoln City at Pride Park on Thursday to get back to winning ways after their draw with Wycombe Wanderers at the weekend.

The Rams are now on a seven-game unbeaten run in the league and have managed to climb up to third place in the league table.

Barker pointed out that Paul Warne’s side have displayed different types of performances throughout the season so far and believes that it is hard to define a proper style of play in which the team fit.

He believes that it is a wonderful sign that Derby are managing to secure three points on days when they are not at their best and he also added that Warne’s side still feel slightly disjointed.

“We have seen a difference in the team over the course of the season”, Barker said on Rams TV.

“We have seen a team that will fight, try and compete to grind out wins; we have seen a team that have put the sword to the other opposition and scored willingly and freely.

“We have seen some really positive controlled possession games and we have seen some frantic ones.

“We do not know exactly where we fit and it still feels like it is slightly disjointed with what the manager wants from the players and what the players can probably achieve.

“Again, we are in third, we are in great form, we are winning games when we are not at our best, which is a wonderful sign and which is why we were so disappointed with the late goal against Wycombe.”

Next Derby will travel to the DW Stadium on Boxing Day to take on 17th placed Wigan Athletic.
