Bettor sells Brock Purdy MVP ticket for record 6-figure price on PropSwap
San Francisco quarterback Brock Purdy is the odds-on favorite at sportsbooks to win NFL MVP at sportsbooks, but one bettor with a big ticket on Purdy to win the award decided to play it safe and cash out.
San Francisco 49ers QB Brock Purdy opened the season with 25-1 odds to win NFL MVP at BetMGM, but his odds lengthened at sportsbooks over the summer, as it wasn’t even a given that he’d be healthy enough to start the season — given the torn UCL ligament he suffered in January’s NFC Championship game.
One bettor jumped on some long odds at one sportsbook and put $2,000 on Purdy to win MVP at 100-1 odds back in July. After San Francisco’s 45-29 win over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 15, Purdy became the favorite to win MVP at sportsbooks. At BetMGM, Purdy is currently the -225 favorite, followed by Lamar Jackson (+600), Christian McCaffrey (+700) and Dak Prescott (+900).
The bettor put the ticket up on PropSwap, a site that connects buyers and sellers of futures tickets and initially was offered $90,000, according to Darren Rovell. He put it back up for $125,000 and his offer was accepted on Friday afternoon. It’s the biggest sale in PropSwap’s history.
“We’re very happy to announce a new PropSwap sales recordd, more than doubling our previous record, the infamous 2019 New Orleans Saints ticket,” Luke Pergande, co-founder of PropSwap, told For The Win in a text. “The buyer is paying $250,000 to collect $202,000 (odds of -162). The seller has turned $2,000 into $125,000 with three games to go on the Niners schedule … We’re happy to assist both sides of this transaction in a favorable outcome.
The bettor won’t make the full $200,000 if Purdy ends up winning the MVP, but certainly makes a nice return on his initial $2,000 wager.
Time will tell if it was a great decision, but for now, there is certainly less stress for the bettor.
