Man Utd's forgotten midfielder completes loan move to Bundesliga club - report

Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has completed his loan transfer to Eintracht Frankfurt for the remainder of the 2023/24 season.

The Athletic report that the transfer deal is ‘set to go through when the winter transfer window opens on January 1.’

Frankfurt will have the option to sign Van de Beek on a permanent deal by disbursing €11 million plus add-ons.

The Dutchman completed his medical earlier this week.

The 26-year-old’s time at Old Trafford has been underwhelming, to say the least. A combination of limited game time and injuries prevented his Man United career from taking off.

He was signed in 2020 and made just 62 appearances for the Red Devils over four seasons.

This season has been no different. He has made just one Premier League appearance so far this campaign.

Erik ten Hag’s arrival at Old Trafford was the last hope for the midfielder to revive his career after achieving great success at Ajax earlier. However, he failed to re-establish his reputation even under Ten Hag.

The former Ajax gaffer has not utilised Van de Beek even with numerous injuries in the squad. Instead, he has favoured the Academy star Kobbie Mainoo.

This was enough to indicate to the Dutch midfielder that his future is not at the Theatre of Dreams.

Hopefully, he can impress everyone at Frankfurt and seal a permanent move to Germany next summer.

Man United would love to get him off their books to create space for future signings.
