UConn’s Clingan to miss 3-4 weeks with foot injury
By ADAM ZAGORIA
HARTFORD — UConn big man Donovan Clingan will miss Saturday’s game against St. John’s and is out 3-4 weeks with an injury to a tendon in his right foot, the school announced.
The 7-foot-2 sophomore left the second half of No. 5 UConn’s 75-60 loss to Seton Hall on Wednesday with a foot injury.
He underwent an MRI on Friday and the school was awaiting results.
“He didn’t have a ton of swelling, but he did have some pain,” UConn coach Dan Hurley said Friday. “He obviously wanted to go back in [on Wednesday] and then it tightened up on him. We’ll see how he feels in the morning and then get the MRI scans.”
A projected lottery pick in 2024, Clingan missed a month ahead of the season with a foot strain but returned for opening night.
For the season, Clingan is averaging 13.9 points and 6.3 rebounds.
UConn will be looking to extend its seven-game home winning streak on Saturday, which includes a 6-0 record this season.
