Amid rising concerns about the JN.1 Covid-19 variant, a traveller from Europe has tested positive for Covid in Guwahati, confirming the first case in Assam since November. The health department is determining the variant found in the 28-year-old female patient, who is currently under home isolation. The state government has not issued a new SOP on Covid, but cautionary measures are being taken to prevent the spread of the JN.1 variant. Despite this, airports and railway stations in the state have yet to implement Covid screening facilities.
