Club Send Request For Player To Leeds United, Eyeing Swoop
Leeds United have received a loan request from Blackburn Rovers for striker Joe Gelhardt, according to journalist Alan Nixon.
Gelhardt had a stint on loan at Sunderland last term and was hoping to play a big role in Leeds’ push to go straight back up to the Premier League this season.
Boss Daniel Farke prefers other attacking options however and Gelhardt’s chances have been limited and appear likely to remain so given the depth of forward choices at the German’s disposal.
Both Leeds and Gelhardt are happy for a loan to take place in the transfer window which opens in under a week and there is interest.
Blackburn, who were keen on Gelhardt last year, have gone in with a request to sign him on loan.
The Ewood Park outfit feel the hitman would add extra bite to their attacking options and want to win the race for his services.
And it is a race as Preston North End also want him on loan, while Hull City have been leading the hunt.
The amount of playing time on offer is likely to be crucial to the decision that Leeds and Gelhardt make together over a January switch away from Elland Road.
