I’m a cleaning expert and my 65p hack will clear up Christmas tree needles instantly

NOTHING feels quite as Christmassy as a real tree with both the site and the smell enough to make anyone feel festive.

But anyone who has opted for the real deal this year will be all too familiar with the abundance of needles you’re forced to clear up on the daily.

But before you reach for the vacuum cleaner, GetAgent has revealed the ultimate hack for removing the needles quickly and easily.

The experts recommend using baking soda – which costs just 65p to buy from a supermarket if you don’t already have it in your kitchen cupboards – to speed up the process.

Colby Short, CEO and co-founder of GetAgent, says: “There is no denying that real Christmas trees look (and smell) great, however, it can get annoying having to do a daily clean to pick up dropping pine needles.

“If you’re looking to keep the house particularly tidy – for example, to keep the pine needles out of the mouths of pets or young children, or if you’ve got viewings on a property you’re trying to sell, you could end up on your hands and knees several times a day trying to spot and remove a stray pine needle.

“To make the cleaning process quicker and more effective, you can use baking soda to make the needles easier to sweep up.

“This is because the baking soda has absorbent qualities, making it easier for the pine needles to be swept up.”

Explaining how to best perform the hack, he adds: “Sprinkle the household staple over the fallen needles, and then use a broom, dustpan and brush or lint roller to sweep up the needles.

“You could even use a bathroom squeegee if you don’t own a broom!

“Once you’ve collected all of the needles (which should be significantly easier to spot thanks to the baking soda solution), you can pop them in the bin and vacuum up the baking soda remnants.

“To prevent the tree from dropping too much, ensure that your tree is topped up with water every other day.”
