James Cook's final carry of the Bills' game-winning drive was an awful bad beat for his prop bettors
As the Buffalo Bills received the ball with 5:36 left in Saturday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers, and trailing 22-21, the mission for James Cook prop bettors was simple: Get eight yards.
The line for Cook’s rushing yards prop was 70.5, and 99 percent of bets were on the over, according to BetMGM’s John Ewing. Cook had 63 as the drive began, and there was enough time left that Buffalo didn’t need to abandon the run.
His bettors had a chance, and after runs of three, two, four and two yards, it appeared Cook had cashed them out with room to spare — he clinched the over at 73 yards. Then, the Bills gave him the ball one last time and disaster struck. Cook lost three yards and never got the ball again. He finished at exactly 70.

That is an awful beat. And to make it more excruciating, the Bills appeared to have scored a touchdown two plays earlier, after Cook had already clinched. However, the 28-yard score was overturned after replay showed Khalil Shakir was touched down at the 13.

That non-touchdown hurt Cook bettors badly.
