Football London’s Alasdair Gold has said that Ange Postecoglou has high hopes for Brennan Johnson, with the Australian expecting the 22-year-old to become a big goal threat over the coming months.
While Postecoglou will be delighted at the fact that Richarlison has found form over recent weeks while Dejan Kulusevski is also producing some of his best football, his one concern might perhaps be Johnson.
Although the Wales international has shown several moments of real quality over recent weeks, he is yet to string a couple of brilliant performances together, which would signal that he has arrived at the North London club.
Many fans will feel that the 22-year-old has not really justified his huge price tag yet, given that he has just one goal and three assists to his name in 15 appearances (Transfemarkt).
Postecoglou has belief in Brennan Johnson
Gold has now stated that Postecoglou has certainly not lost faith in Johnson, with the Australian said to have ‘big plans’ for the attacker.
The journalist claims that the Spurs head coach believes that the former Nottingham Forest star ‘has all the attributes to be a big goal threat in his system’.
Gold goes on to explain that Postecoglou is assembling ‘a team that is hungry to learn and improve’, with Johnson very much part of that, given his unassuming nature and his willingness to take information on board.

This might be an incorrect reading of the situation but looking at Johnson’s body language, it seems like he is too eager to impress, which is perhaps why he is lacking composure in the final third.
That is to be expected when a young player gets such a big price tag and I think the 22-year-old needs a couple of goals and assists to overcome his nerves and play with the sort of arrogance that he showed at times at Forest.
