I had abuse hurled at me for parking in an EV charging spot… even though my car IS electric
AN EV driver has told how he was abused by another motorist after trying to park in a charging spot.
Posting under the username @therightcar.au on TikTok, the driver, from Sydney, reveals how the electric vehicle only parking spot was taken by a diesel car.
“I just tried to park at a shopping centre here and there was a Ford Ranger parked there.
“Now there is no electric Ford Ranger and it was an electric vehicle-only parking space.
“And I proceeded to get abused from the person parked there.
“She called me a f*** wit for trying to park where I was able to charge.”
The driver went on to remind drivers that EV vehicles are an important step forward, and others need to respect those who drive electric motors.
“Some Australians need to realise that the future is coming, and EVs are part of that future.
“There are some people out there who think that they deserve to park wherever they want and there are other people who need to charge their cars.
“We need to get over it people! Wake up to yourselves.”
It comes after one EV owner revealed a hidden feature that can charge your car for free – but not everyone can do it.
Ryan, who runs EV review site The Kilowatts, shared the handy hack on his TikTok channel.
In the video, he showed how you charge up your car with a simple gadget.
Elsewhere, Volvo’s new ‘baby’ electric SUV won a gong for being the best electric car on sale.
The 2023 award, given out by Electrifying.com, saw the pint-sized Swede beat out Rolls Royce’s first electric car, the Spectre.
The Volvo EX30 also collected the best small family electric car award after the judges said they tested many models.
“The Volvo EX30 oozes Scandi-cool and has plenty of kit, but the biggest shock for the three of us was the price, which means this great-looking mini SUV costs less than an electric Vauxhall Corsa.
