I live in Alaska at -31 degrees & you won’t believe where I go to the loo- there’s no door but a Northern Lights view
A WOMAN has shared an insight into her life living in a dry cabin in Alaska, where temperatures get as low as -31 degrees celsius.
Lauren Hurst gave TikTok users a look at the crazy place she has to go to the toilet via a video posted to her channel @explaurmore, where she often posts updates on what it’s like living in such a remote part of the world.

Lauren explained that she lives in a dry cabin, which means there is no running water or plumbing in her place of residence.
Because of this, she has to go to the toilet in an outhouse situated down the bottom of her garden.
Lauren’s outhouse doesn’t have a door, meaning she is absolutely freezing when going for a wee in the winter months.
Her garden is currently piled high with thick snow, so she has to keep digging a pathway out of the snow to be able to pop out to the toilet.
Lauren said that she doesn’t mind that the weather is so cold, even though she didn’t grow up in a snowy climate as she’s used to more humid weather where the “cold gets into your bones”, explaining that the dry cold in Alaska is more bearable.
She added that she doesn’t mind that the toilet has no door as there are no people or animals around and she is able to stare at the Northern Lights whilst doing a number 2.
TikTok users raced to the comments section of Lauren’s video to share their thoughts on her unique toilet situation.
One user said: “My boyfriend was in a doorless outhouse when a grizzly bear wandered onto the property. It was about 25 ft away!”
Another user added: “You lost me at no door. My anxiety would be in overload every time I went.”
A third user added: “I grew up in Alaska. Coldest I’ve seen personally was -63. Ended up cooking dinner on the wood stove for a week cause propane wouldn’t flow.”
