Here’s a roundup of high school varsity action on Friday, Dec. 29.

Girls basketball

Chesapeake-AA 53, Northern-Calvert 31: Ava Arruda scored 17 points and Kasey Slade had 15 points to lead the Cougars over the Patriots at the 695 Hoops’ “All About the Girls Holiday Hoops” tournament James Nichols Division. Chesapeake-AA faces Largo in the championship at 11 a.m. Saturday at Western.

Broadneck 39, Maryvale Prep 35: The Bruins (5-1) outscored the Lions (2-4), by six points in the second half to win at the 695 Hoops’ “All About the Girls Holiday Hoops” tournament. Mackenzie Wharton scored 10 points and Samantha Miller had nine points for Broadneck.

Sherwood 56, Arundel 9: Avery Graham scored 13 points and Alexa Lyons had 12 points to lead the visiting Warriors over the Wildcats. Saffiya Carson and Madison Barber each scored three points for Arundel.

Harford Tech 54, Cristo Rey Jesuit 6: Abi Marcello scored 15 points and Sophia Mace had 13 points to lead the Cobras over the Hornets at the 695 Hoops “All About the Girls Holiday Hoops” tournament. Harford Tech faces Indian Creek in their divisional title game Saturday.

Edgewood 42, Edmondson-Westside 41: Sam Donovan scored 15 points and Jael Erickson had 13 points to lead the Rams over the Red Storm at the 695 Hoops “All About the Girls Holiday Hoops” tournament at Catonsville. Edgewood faces Sherwood in the bracket championship at 11 a.m.

Poly 51, Washington (W. Va.) 14: Michelle Lowry scored 13 points and Ariana Makumi had 11 points to lead the Engineers over the Patriots at the Deep Creek Lake Holiday Classic at Garrett College. Poly had 20 steals in the win.

Indian Creek 51, Huntingtown 32: The host Eagles (9-4) used a full-court press and a balanced offense to beat the Hurricanes. Indian Creek was led by Abbey Bunker with 14 points and Malinda Morgan with 12 points. Huntingtown was led by Sofia Hoetzlein-Sirmon with 11 points.

Boys basketball

Meade 61, Wilde Lake 36: Ashton Truman scored 20 points and Jaisean Kenner had 12 points to lead the host Mustangs (7-1) over the Wildcats at the Route 175 Holiday Classic. Meade will host South River next Friday.

Southern 76, Southwestern 14: Ethan Sheffey scored 13 points to lead the Bulldogs over the Sabers at the Showtime at the Park tournament. Southern had three players score 12 points: Sabin Cordua, Brian Griffin and Anthony Thomas.

Mount St. Joseph 60, Maret (D.C.) 51: The Gaels (17-0) beat the Fighting Frogs to finish 3-0 and claim the championship of the Benedictine Capital City Classic in Richmond. Tournament honors for Mount St. Joseph included the Coaches Award to Pat Clatchey, Most Valuable Player and All-Tournament team selection Ty Farrell and All-Tournament team selection Jordan Brathwaite.
