But concerns remain as KLO, Ulfa-I yet to bury the hatchet

The signing of the peace accord with the pro-talks faction of Ulfa is crucial for peace in Assam, but concerns remain as the anti-talks faction of Ulfa led by Paresh Baruah and the Kamatapur Liberation Organization (KLO) have not yet joined. All other militant outfits in Assam have disbanded and signed peace agreements. The implementation of the accord would give Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma the right plank to bring the smaller anti-talks faction to the peace process. The outfit suffered a split in 2012, a year after Rajkhowa and his men decided to start peace talks with the government. The first direct talks with the united Ulfa took place in 1992, but failed after the first round of talks.
