Top-10 WBSC Softball World Cup Plays of the Year: No. 2 Logan Bester (Puerto Rico)
Welcome back to the WBSC Top-10 Softball Plays of the Year, featuring a review of the top 10 plays from the 2023 WBSC Softball World Cups. Puerto Rican centre fielder Logan Bester claimed the second spot in the Top-10 with a sensational diving catch against Mexico during the inaugural edition of the WBSC U-15 Women's Softball World Cup.
On the second day of the Super Round, Mexico (0-3) and Puerto Rico (2-1) faced off in a decisive match for both teams in their quest for a medal in the World Cup. The two Latin American rivals engaged in a pitching duel.
Puerto Rico took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the sixth and needed three more outs to seal the victory. With one out, Mexican second baseman Romina Casillas hit a line drive into the right-centre-field gap. However, Bester made a spectacular play, denying a base hit in a crucial moment of the game.
The final score was 1-0 in favour of Puerto Rico, which won all three Super Round games by one run and advanced to the final. Despite their efforts, the Caribbean team finished with a silver medal after losing the World Championship Final to USA by a score of 3-0.
