AS we get ready to welcome in the New Year, you might be aware that your glasses have seen better days.
If your glass wear is looking streaky from party season, there is still time to get it sparkling before we countdown to midnight.
Unfortunately, many of our festive tipples such as Baileys, port and even champers leave their mark on our glass wear.
Though many cleaners swear by white vinegar to get rid of those marks, it’s pretty time intensive to clean every glass – especially if you have house guests staying over.
Even those with a washing machine can struggle with stubborn water spots, with hard water still haunting us long after the party is over.
However, cleaning refill brand Bundant have shared a hand trick for getting glasses spotless every time with no extra chemicals.
This tip has been used by bartenders for decades and has gotten them through endless busy shifts over the festive period.
Rather than leaving your glasses to air dry as you usually would, you need to make sure you remove any remaining moisture if you want to avoid water spots or residue.
Once the washing up is done, simply run a clean tea towel or microfiber cloth over the glass.
With the moisture gone, you then need to buff your glass for 30 seconds.
You can do this straight from the dishwasher as you stack them away, with the intense clean and steam helping to get them sparkling.
Now, your streak free glasses will be ready to use next time you fancy a cheeky tipple or two.
For those who don’t have a dishwasher, there is a way to achieve a similar shine without having to purchase the expensive kitchen gadget.
Instead, you can simply bring a pan of plain water to the boil to get the same finish.
As the water boils, you should see a small amount of stream rising from the surface.
Carefully, hover the glasses about an inch over the pan and let them fill with steam.
To avoid burning yourself, make sure you them by the stem and keeping the pan on a low boil whilst you are cleaning.
When the glass mists over, you can then wipe it down with a microfiber cloth and as it cools, you should be left with a streak free finish.
If you are still worried about water spots, you can add a cap of white vinegar to the water when you wash up or your dishwasher.
This should stop water stubborn stains even areas with the hardest water – like London.
