It’s A Bit – Leeds United’s Form Baffles Former White
Jon Newsome has admitted that he is struggling to make sense of how Leeds United’s form can be so inconsistent, after the Whites suffered another loss.
Leeds’ hopes of automatic promotion from the Championship were dealt another blow on Friday night when they lost 1-0 to West Brom at the Hawthorns.
The Whites have now lost back-to-back league games and have won just one of their last five fixtures in the Championship, which was a 4-0 win over Ipswich at Elland Road.
Newsome conceded that he does not understand how Leeds’ form has gone downhill since the win over Ipswich.
He stressed that while they looked like scoring at will against Kieran McKenna’s men, they have looked clueless and have had no cutting edge in the last two defeats at Preston and West Brom, respectively.
Newsome said on BBC Radio Leeds: “It’s really difficult to put your finger on, isn’t it?
“We tear Ipswich Town apart, looked like we could score at will – hit the crossbar twice, won 4-0 etc.
“We go to Preston and we come here to the Hawthorns, we don’t have a cutting edge, and we don’t really look like we worked their key players in any way shape or form in both games.
“It’s a bit of a head-scratcher.”
Leeds have dropped down to fourth in the Championship standings and are now trailing Ipswich by nine points.
