Paul Foreman makes plan to end his own life in harrowing Coronation Street confession
CRUSHED by devastating prognosis, Paul Foreman has struggled to cope with his motor neurone disease symptoms.
Scared of what’s ahead, the Coronation Street favourite portrayed by Peter Ash decides to end things on his own terms.
Paul makes the decision to end his life, unable to cope with his MND symptoms[/caption] He makes a confession to Abi Webster[/caption] But he also asks her for help – how will she react?[/caption]The builder, loved by many ITV viewers, was diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND) earlier this year, after he was hit by a van driven by a drug-fuelled Carla Connor.
And while the diagnosis was hard to hear, things went from bad to worse for Paul as he was told he would only have six to twelve months to live.
Regular viewers of the Manchester-based program thus know that actor Peter Ash is due for an emotional exit as his on-screen alter ego faces losing his mobility.
But before he has to face the gradual weakening of his breathing muscles, which leads patients in the final stages of MND to respiratory failure and death, Paul hatches a plan to take a bow the way he wants to.
Coming up, Paul asks Todd Grimshaw (played by Gareth Pierce) to help him end his life when the time comes.
As Todd refuses, Paul accepts it’s too much to ask but explains he’s terrified of becoming a hostage inside his own body.
A sympathetic Todd takes Paul to the surgery where Paul makes out he’s in great pain and needs morphine.
Knowing Paul could be up to no good, Todd is relieved when a Dr Gaddas refuses to prescribe it.
Later in the Rovers, Abi Webster (Sally Carman) overhears Paul complaining to Todd that he couldn’t get a prescription for morphine and empathises.
Abi has suffered from her own substance abuse issues in the past and decides to show Paul some support.
At the flat, Todd is surprised when Abi arrives at Paul’s invitation.
However, Paul’s intentions become clear when he asks Abi to score him some drugs.
Will she help Paul with his plan?
Back in November, 2023, Sally Carman was seen filming scenes with Dean Turnbull actor Anthony Crank which sparked concerns amongst fans.
