Limited edition Renault Clio that was named after F1 team could be yours for £12k – and you ‘won’t be disappointed’
A LIMITED edition Renault Clio that was named after an F1 team could be yours for £12,000.
The 1995 Williams 3 model has recently hit the market, with the current owner saying any prospective buyers “won’t be disappointed”.
The Williams is said to have been named after the 1993 championship-winning F1 team.
Plus, its colour scheme was also said to have been inspired by Alain Prost’s Williams-Renault FW15C car, which crossed the finish line first in the big race.
The seller says the car has had just four owners, and has a “whopping service history”.
The vehicle fanatic said the motor had always been on his must-have list.
The Dorset man wrote on an eBay listing: “Safe to say it’s lived up to all expectations to drive.
“For me the Williams is on another level.
“Somewhat lighter on its feet, sharper throttle response, slightly heavier steering and an all-round more ‘raw’ driving experience.
“The exhaust note has a nice ‘burble’ to it without being too much, makes its way through the rev range at a brisk pace and the engine comes on song like a wild banshee.”
The car is painted blue and has gold rims, which Influx reported was “inspired by racing, specifically Alain Prost’s 1993 championship-winning Williams-Renault FW15C”.
The current Renault Clio Williams 3 owner says the paintwork is mostly in good condition, minus a few scuffs here and there.
He wrote: “The paintwork is very bright and honest, no nasty scratches or unsightly dents to report.
“There are minor imperfections here and there as to be expected for an older car, certainly not ‘mint’ but she is a solid and more than usable example.”
The owner encouraged people to head down to Dorset and see the limited edition motor, which has a price tag of £12,750.
He wrote: “A solid Renault Clio Williams 3, just four owners from new, looks excellent, recent service, long MOT, huge service history file, 18 service stamps, phenomenal to drive, no mechanical issues and ready to be enjoyed by its new owner.
“Well worth travelling to view, we certainly don’t think you will be disappointed.”
It’s not unusual for Renault Clio Williams to hit the market.
But one recently went up for an eye-watering price of £30,000-£40,000.
The initial production run of the Clio Williams was limited to just 5,400 examples, of which only 390 arrived in the UK.
The one that hit the market was said to have had just 41,876 miles on the clock and was one of the “best-preserved” examples available.
Another time capsule was also set to sell for a whopping six-figure sum after doing just 1,872 miles in 18 years.
The limited edition Renault Clio V6 had barely been driven since it rolled off the production line in 2005.
It was bought from new by a car fanatic who had intended to drive it but it ended up being stored in his garage for 18 years.
As a result, the barely-used ‘Hot Hatch’ was in pristine condition.
