Camberwell clash: Shocking moment crowds wielding sticks square up to cops as protest descends into chaos
CHAOS has broken out on the streets of London with crowds wielding sticks seen squaring up with cops.
Police say they were rushed to Camberwell this afternoon after a protest involving dozens of people started turning violent.
Footage of the scenes showed armed yobs rushing along the road towards officers.
They can be seen hitting the cop cars with sticks as they swarm the area.
Officers on the ground can be seen trying to block the group out.
Met Police this afternoon said: “Officers are on scene in Camberwell Road, SE5 where there is a protest with approximately 50 people gathered outside a private venue.
“Additional officers are on their way to the location to assist with the demonstration.”
