The Haryana government will spend Rs 300 crore to clear the Bandhwari landfill, as approved by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. The landfill has been used to dump waste from Gurgaon and Faridabad. The government had earlier informed the National Green Tribunal that 33 lakh metric tonne of waste needed to be cleared, resulting in a Rs 100 crore environmental compensation. The Gurgaon municipal corporation has hired firms to clear 17 lakh metric tonne of waste. Additionally, the corporation issued a termination notice to Ecogreen and fined other private companies for running behind schedule.
