Worker hospitalized in chemical accident in Palo Alto

An employee of a Palo Alto company was hospitalized and more than a dozen co-workers were evaluated for chemical exposure after an “unexpected” chemical reaction, authorities said. Two employees of Stangenes Industries were mixing epoxy at about 9 a.m., said Catherine Capriles, Palo Alto’s deputy fire chief. Hazardous materials crews from the Palo Alto and neighboring Mountain View fire departments were dealing with the incident into the afternoon, waiting for a cleaning company to finish its work so they could go inside the building.

Under Armour sees $23M writedown with Sports Authority liquidation

The Sports Authority's bankruptcy and liquidation will cost retailer Under Armour Inc. at least $23 million in a writedown in the second quarter, Under Armour said late Tuesday. As a result of the writedown as well as loss of further sales to The Sports Authority, Under Armour expects net sales of $4.93 billion this year, from previous expectations of sales of $5 billion. The CEO of Staples is stepping down after the company's failed merger with Office Depot

Ron Sargent, CEO of office-supply giant Staples, has agreed to step down from his position, according to a release from the company.

The move comes a little more than two weeks after the company was forced to scrap its proposed merger with rival Office Depot because of pushback from regulators.

Taxpayers fork over $206,337 every hour the world's most famous plane is in flight, according to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) documents obtained by the nonprofit Judicial Watch.

The FY15 cost per flying hour for Air Force One (VC-25A) includes "fuel, flight consumables, depot level repairables, aircraft overhaul, and engine overhaul," according to the letter from the Department of the Air Force Headquarters Air Mobility Command to Judicial Watch.
