P20 M flood control structure in Claveria, Cagayan completed
CLAVERIA – The Cagayan Second District Engineering Office announced the completion of the Cabicungan flood control facility in Barangay Centro 4 in this town.
District Engineer Rellie Dalmaceda reported Wednesday, Oct. 12, to Regional Director Nomer Abel P. Canlas that flooding in these areas poses a constant threat to the low-lying barangays of the town.
With the completion of the project, residents in low-lying areas in this town would now be secured, said Dalmaceda.
“The completion of the flood structure provides additional security, mitigating the effects of flooding to flood risk barangays,” said Dalmaceda.
“This would also ensure the safety of Claverianos, their homes and livelihood,” added Dalmaceda.
The P20-Million project is a concrete revetment wall on steel sheet piles, and hexapod blocks which stretches a total of 155-linear meters located along the Cabicungan River.
Meanwhile, the District Office is expecting to deliver at least three more flood mitigating facilities throughout the district in the next few months.
