Tropical depression Maymay is more likely to weaken into a low pressure area (LPA) within 12 hours, while another tropical cyclone may enter the country’s area of responsibility by Thursday, Oct. 13, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

As of 5 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 12, tropical depression Maymay has maintained its maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 55 kph.

It was last seen 180 kilometers (km) east of Casiguran, Aurora, and was moving westward at 10 kph.

11 a.m., Oct. 12

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 is still raised in six areas in Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, and Southern Luzon as tropical depression Maymay barely moved over the Philippine Sea, according to the latest bulletin of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

Signal No. 1 remains hoisted over Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, and the extreme northern portion of Quezon (General Nakar, Infanta) including Polillo Islands due to strong winds that may be experienced in these areas.

Maymay was located 310 kilometers (km) east-northeast of Baler, Aurora, or 245 km east of Casiguran, Aurora around 10 a.m.

It has maintained its maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph.

5 a.m., Oct. 12

PAGASA said Maymay was last spotted 305 kilometers east of Baler, Aurora, while continuing to move slowly in a southwest direction.

Tropical depression Maymay is now expected to make landfall over Aurora province on Thursday morning, Oct. 13, as it continues to move slowly over the Philippine Sea.

PAGASA said Maymay was located 270 kilometers (km) east of Casiguran, Aurora or 320 kilometers east of Baler, Aurora around 10 p.m. on Tuesday, and continues to move slowly south-southwestward.

It has maintained its maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 55 kph.

PAGASA said that Maymay was last spotted at 265 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora, and maintained its maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 55 kph.

As it approaches Central Luzon for a possible landfall in Aurora province on Wednesday night, Oct. 12 or early Thursday, Oct. 13, Maymay will bring moderate to heavy rains over Cagayan, northern Isabela, Batanes, and Apayao as early as Tuesday, Oct. 11.

PAGASA said Maymay was last spotted at a distance of 285 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora and maintained a maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 55 kph.

Should the tropical depression maintain its speed and track, Maymay may make landfall over Aurora or northern Quezon on Wednesday afternoon or evening, Oct. 12, PAGASA said.

5 a.m., Oct. 11

Tropical depression Maymay was located 300 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora, and continues to move southwestward at a speed of 10 kph.

It has maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph.

“On the forecast track, the center of this tropical cyclone is forecast to make landfall in the vicinity of southern portion of Aurora or northern portion of Quezon tomorrow afternoon or evening (Oct. 12),” PAGASA said.
