200 women join breast cancer awareness campaign in Bulacan
Around 200 women joined the breast cancer awareness campaign spearheaded by the office of Bulacan Vice Governor Alex Castro on Tuesday, Oct. 11.
Castro led the event held at the SM City Marilao on Tuesday, along with the representatives of SM Cares, Philippine Foundation for Breast Care, Inc. and Kasuso Foundation.
An active breast cancer advocate, Castro gave a message of hope and recognized all of the survivors and volunteers who have worked hard to educate the people on how to cope with and fight the disease.
He also stressed the importance of regular breast checkups and screenings, stressing that early detection saves lives.
Gladys May S. Latiza, SM Marilao mall public relations manager, said the campaign was attended by at least 200 participants from the towns of Marilao, Obando, and Meycauayan.
She said they gathered at SM City Marilao and celebrated the strength of breast cancer survivors and empower those who are currently living with the disease.
Latiza said the breast cancer awareness campaign at the mall includes a series of lay forums/seminars on its detection and prevention while reducing the stigma linked to symptoms and treatment.
Free mammogram tests were also given to participants as well as walk-in shoppers.
