New Field Museum exhibit ‘Unseen Oceans’ explores the deep sea

The Field Museum’s latest exhibit is a seeming underwater immersion. The dim space is illuminated with vibrant blue and purple lighting, emulating bioluminescence. In one room, models of marine life dangle from the ceilings. In another, visitors are encircled with swirling projections of life-sized fish. “It’s meant to make you feel like you’re submerged in the ocean,” said Marie Georg, a senior exhibition developer at the Field. Thursday forecast: Showers, thunderstorms, and patchy fog

Temperatures are expected in the low 50s Thursday as a warm front pushing potentially severe thunderstorms and damaging wind into the area, officials said. Scattered thunderstorms are expected during the morning hours, and a few are expected to become severe with large hail and up to 60 mph winds, according to the National Weather Service. Up to 2-inch hail and strong winds are expected south of the Kankakee River and Illinois River where officials said there is a slight chance of tornadoes. Driver fatally strikes woman in parking lot on 79th Street after argument

A 30-year-old woman was fatally struck by a vehicle driven by someone she was arguing with inside a parking on 79th Street, cops said. Shortly before 6 p.m. Wednesday, a witness saw the woman arguing with someone inside a parking lot in the first block of West 79th Street in the Grand Crossing neighborhood. Elon Musk has abruptly canceled “The Don Lemon Show” a talk show on his social media network, X. The move to cancel the show came after the former CNN anchor Lemon recorded an interview with the billionaire for the show's as-yet unaired first episode. Musk owns the site formerly known as Twitter and frequently proclaims himself a “free speech absolutist.” X said only that it had decided not to enter into a commercial partnership with Lemmon's show. Lemon said he will be airing the Musk episode on YouTube and via podcast on Monday.
