Inside the Middle Eastern influences of Hans Zimmer’s ‘Dune’ score

Much has been written about Dune’s Islamic and Middle Eastern background. In the Washington Post, Haris Durrani describes Frank Herbert's Dune novels as "thoroughly Muslim," treading a line between homage and cultural appropriation. The books borrow vocabulary from Arabic, and as Roxana Hadadi points out in Vulture, the Fremen (the indigenous population of Arrakis) were partly inspired by the Bedouin people of the Arabian Peninsula. Marvel’s overstuffed ‘Eternals’ bites off more than it can chew

As someone who wants the MCU to explore new territory, it brings me no joy to say that Eternals is dull. Spanning 7,000 years, it's a fantasy tale about a team of immortal aliens who watch over Earth like intergalactic park wardens. Echoing Wonder Woman's Amazon society, they vow not to interfere in human conflicts. But this moral dilemma stretches credulity to breaking point.
