How ‘Soccer Twitter’ helped lead Folarin Balogun to play for the U.S.

Folarin Balogun was born in Brooklyn on July 3, 2001, to Nigerian parents and raised in London, which made him eligible to play soccer internationally for all three nations. Given that he played in the England youth national team setup since he was a teenager, especially after a breakout season on loan with Stade Reims in Ligue 1 that concluded last month, it seemed he was destined to eventually commit to the team nicknamed the Three Lions – currently ranked fifth in the world.

A secret is only good as long as it’s kept, even at Walmart.

TikTok creator and Walmart worker Maria Alvarez (@marialvarez_x) posted a video earlier this week about working at the store’s less-used garden department checkout. The video has almost 3,000 likes and 35,000 views.

As Alvarez explained in the video, the garden checkout had no line during her shift, even while the rest of the store was busy. People didn't know the garden register was there unless they came in through the department's entrance... Читать дальше...

I’ve been mostly offline for the last week while traveling. The first time I opened Twitterin a few days, what I saw made me wonder if I’d been away for longer. People were posting what they called “self-drawn memes”—illustrations of famous memes that looked like they were reproduced on Microsoft Paint. 

“Y’all using these self drawn photos of memes as actual memes is so demented,” one user said, receiving such memes in the replies.
