In terms of spectacle, this has become the new matinee paradigm: skyscrapers old and new atomized by wholesale cataclysm, immense clouds of cement dust (of a kind movies weren’t terribly familiar with before 2001), buildings losing their center tensions and keeling over in slow motion, the ensuing debris raining Pompeii-like onto narrow city streets. The main media narrative coming out of Saturday’s Nevada caucus was clear: Hillary Clinton’s got her inevitability back, and Bernie Sanders’ campaign is toast. You can see it across a broad swath of the political spectrum, from Salon (“Hillary Clinton’s Path Is Clear: Barring a catastrophe, her nomination is inevitable”) to the Drudge Report (“Bern Out: Hillary could end it all in two weeks!”).

Hillary Clinton has spent much of her presidential campaign running away from her responsibility for the United States’ disastrous 2011 intervention in Libya. The February 19 release of more emails from her private server may make it harder for her to do so.
