Used to do quite a bit when I was at uni. A very easy to brew stout/mild, bramble wine from the overgrown hedge in my student digs, and one I still occasionally make "turbo cider" from supermarket cheap apple juice.
If you spend the time to clear it and make it fizzy you can have something just as commercialised as Thatchers or Bulmers with very little effort. IF you want to leave it still and cloudy it's also extremely quaffable.
