Luckily one savvy mum has shared her five top tips for setting up your Christmas tree.
Shannon, known online as @athomewith.shannon, regularly shares parenting tips with her 283,000 followers.
In a recent Instagram reel, the mum-of-four shares five tips to help make your tree look posh – and it makes it easier to put up or take down too.
“You need these tips if you’re setting up a Christmas tree this year.
“Hi, it’s Shannon, here are five tips for setting up your tree.

“To protect your floors, put a waterproof mat or tablecloth underneath, and felt protectors on your stand.
“Two, your tree needs a gallon of water every day. Add sugar and pennies to keep germs away and make the tree last longer.
“Three, use artificial tree garland to wrap around the tree to fill in holes and make the tree look fuller.
“Four, one of my favourites, plug lights in before they go in the tree so you see where they’re going.

“And five, instead of wrapping lights around your tree, hang them from the top to the bottom.
“Uses way less lights, easier to see if you need to replace one, and is so much faster.

Fans loved the quick and easy hacks, with the video gaining more than 8,000 likes.
In the comments, Shannon’s followers called her a ‘genius’, with one writing: “Why are you such a genius? I love you.”
Although not all were convinced, with one writing: “Or you could just buy a tree that’s full and not put any of that fake c*** in your tree and lights go around the tree, NOT up and down.
“That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve seen yet.”
One follower shared her own tip, writing: “I just figured out a new hack for lights! Use the bush net lights!! So much easier and lights up evenly.”
Someone else added: “HOT water! keeps the sap moving.”
