Coronation Street legend tempted by a new life in Hull by old lover
LIFE in the cobbles has no more secrets for one resident and it may be time to turn a new leaf.
Next week, Coronation Street‘s longest-standing resident considers moving away with a former lover.
Once again, Ken Barlow (played by William Roache) is torn between two women.
After reconnecting with social worker Wendy Crozier (Roberta Kerr), Ken bumped into another one of his former mistresses, Martha Fraser (Stephanie Beacham).
However, next week, Martha breaks the news to Ken that she needs to start rehearsals on a new play in Hull the following day, leaving him gutted.
In later scenes, Wendy is put out when she hears that Ken made a night of it with Martha.

Ken is left with a difficult choice and is unsure whether to follow his head or his heart.
Martha adds fuel to the fire by suggesting he should move to Hull with her.
What will he decide to do?
While that remains to be revealed, Ken later gets bad news when Nigel tells him that the theatre is flooded and the play cancelled.

Thankfully, Ken manages to secure the Bistro, asserting that the show must go on.
But there’s another mishap as one of the leads then breaks a leg.
Martha comes to the rescue, offering to take her place, before introducing herself to Wendy.
The atmosphere turns frosty when Martha apologises for stealing Ken away from her, to which Wendy reacts by stating she broke up with him.
How will the love triangle play out?
Ken and Martha met in January, 2009, when the Corrie stalwart was walking his dog Eccles.

Martha had made the decision to live on her boat after splitting from her husband – which came in handy when Eccles nearly drowned in the canal.
Ken quickly bonded with the actress for their shared love of literature and the friendship eventually led to a love affair.
But when Martha announced she’d soon be moving away to focus on a new play, asking him to come with her, Ken left her and returned to his then-wife Deirdre.
According to actor William Roache, Ken will have a hard time choosing who he really wants between Wendy and Martha.
“He’s physically attracted to them both obviously and he did love them both but they offer two very different lifestyles”, the soap star said.
“Wendy is giving him his current lifestyle, slippers and cocoa, supper in front of the television and all that.”
“Whereas Martha is offering him the life that he always dreamed about, the life of being with intellectuals and writers in London, the theatre and all those things that he himself wanted.”
