[Women's Basketball] SU Runs Off Four Straight Wins to Start Cal Pac Slate

Simpson opened its California Pacific Conference slate with four consecutive wins, three last coming against the trio of Arizona schools in last week's action.  On Thursday the Red Hawks registered a 63-55 victory over Park-Gilbert before pulling off a thriller on Friday over Benedictine Mesa.  Celina Tress' jumper with 1:38 remaining proved to be enough to lift Simpson to a 61-59 win over visiting Benedictine Mesa and move the Red Hawks to a 3-0 start in California Pacific Conference play.  Over the next 40 seconds, BENU got off two quick 3-point attempts to try and regain the lead, but both shots were off the mark.  SU was able to run down the clock to 28 seconds before turning the ball over and giving the Redhawks one final shot, but an errant jumper with three seconds left secured the win for SU.  Tress led all scorers with 18 points, connecting on 9-of-12 shots from the floor while Dyamond Butler-Worley paced BENU with 17 points.  Tress totaled game-high 17 points in Sunday's 68-57 win over Embry-Riddle that improved the Red Hawks to 6-4 overall this season.
