Manchester United Working On Deal To Sign Goalkeeper

Martin Dubravka joined Manchester United on loan from Newcastle United in the summer as Erik ten Hag was keen to bring in someone who could push David de Gea between the sticks.

However, the Slovak has made a solitary appearance in the EFL Cup and is far away from challenging the Spaniard for a spot in the team.

It has been claimed that Manchester United are now looking to bring in a new goalkeeper in the winter window.

And according to German daily Bild, the Premier League giants are working on a deal to sign Swiss number one Sommer.

The 33-year-old’s contract at Gladbach is set to expire at the end of the season and he could leave on a free transfer.

He is rated highly within Old Trafford as he was also a goalkeeper they considered signing last summer.

Gladbach are open to letting him go in January in order to get a free from his departure this winter.

The German club’s sporting director, Roland Virkus, said: “We are weighing everything carefully and are prepared in any case.”

They believe in Jan Olschowsky they already have a goalkeeper who could replace Sommer as his long-term successor.
