I Think I Can – Ipswich Talent Aiming To Learn Key Skill From Duo

The 19-year-old midfielder came through the academy ranks of the Portman Road outfit and has stepped up in the absence of first-team starters Lee Evans and Dominic Ball, who are out due to injury issues.

Humphreys has started eight of Ipswich’s last ten fixtures and netted his first senior goal against Port Vale in the Tractor Boys’ 3-2 win in October.

The young midfielder is of the opinion that he needs to show what he is capable of on and off the ball and believes that he needs to improve his communication and develop leadership abilities.

Humphreys stated that he intends to observe and acquire leadership skills from seasoned players like Morsy and Keogh, who have amassed a combined total of more than 1,000 senior team experiences.

“I think it’s important that I show myself on the pitch, both what I can do with the ball and without the ball”, Humphreys told the East Anglian Daily Times.

“Whether that’s technical, tactical or telling someone what to do, I think I can develop leadership skills and learn from people like Morsy and Richard Keogh with their leadership and what they say to me, and how they help me and help others.

“Especially when you’re playing in the middle, you can see things other people don’t see, so I think it’s definitely important to add more communication and leadership to my game.”

Humphreys has made a total of eleven outings for Kieran McKenna’s side this season so far with a goal and assist in his bag.
