The 19-year-old joined Leeds United in the summer of 2021 from Scottish outfit Celtic on a four-year contract.
Hjelde initially joined Leeds’ Under-21 set-up and featured 12 times in the Premier League 2 Division One for the Whites last season.

Former Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa handed Hjelde his senior team debut in a 2-0 FA Cup defeat against West Ham United in January.
Last season, the left-back racked up two Premier League outings and made the bench for several first-team games.
This season, Hjelde had an appendectomy earlier in October and returned to play in Leeds’ EFL Cup match against Wolves in November.
Hjelde is part of Jesse Marsch’s squad, who are in Spain for a training camp before the season resumes.
The Whites praised the 19-year-old on social media for his efforts during Leeds’ training session on Wednesday.
Hjelde has featured in both Leeds’ EFL Cup fixtures this season and made the bench in the Premier League on several occasions.
