Cowboys LT Tyron Smith designated to return from IR

Dallas Cowboys left tackle Tyron Smith was designated to return from injured reserve on Wednesday.

The move begins a 21-day window to practice for Smith, who sustained an avulsion fracture of his left knee -- the hamstring tendon behind the knee separated from the bone -- in August and required surgery.

Smith, 31, is a two-time All-Pro and eight-time Pro Bowl selection.
