'A Humiliation': Joy Reid Explains Herschel Walker's Candidacy
MSNBC's Joy Reid explained why Herschel Walker lost his Georgia Senate bid. She said the Republican party's terribly flawed candidate was a mockery of Black people.
"You can get enough rural voters, enough non-college-educated white voters to come out and beautifully vote for whomever you put forward, no matter how flawed, no matter how many times they put a gun to the head of the woman they were married to," she said. "They don't care about that. They will come out dutifully. But the problem is, at some point, we have a -- that's more religiously diverse and more diverse in terms of religion."
"You are going to have to do what Michael Steele tried to do when he was chair of the RNC. You've got to, at some point, try to appeal to non-white voters," Reid continued. "You just have to. Because the demographics are what they are."
She explained that "a lot of people -- people are moving around and moving south. And so the states like North Carolina and Georgia are just going to change more. So, at some point, Republicans -- yet, it works for y'all, for now. You are going to have to make a decision. And I am sorry. But the Black candidates you put up -- the Muslim candidates, they can't be Dr. Oz. at a certain point, people are not going to go for that."
