Li-Cheng Liang hits home run as Chinese Taipei beat Hong Kong

Li-Cheng Liang’s three-run homer augmented the ChineseTaipei lead late in the third inning and help the squad record its secondvictory at the II WBSC U-12 Softball World Cup in Jin-Long Stadium.

Liang’s performance on Thursday against Hong Kong includedtwo runs, one hit and three RBIs, along with outstanding performances made by Ya-HsienHsieh, Sheng-Zhi Wu, Yuan-Hsi Tien and Yue-Cen Wu who each contributed tworuns.

Hosts Chinese Taipei retired the Hong Kong batters easilyand played aggressive on offence as they pushed first batter Liang to reachhome plate for the first run after a ground out, fly out and a dropped flyerror.

Chinese Taipei increased their lead to 4-0 after they scoredthree runs in the second inning that featured Tien reaching home plate after anRBI single by Chi-Jui Ku, who eventually finished the run with Yue-Cen Wu on a HongKong throwing error.

The host team completed four runs before Hong Kong managedto get the first out at the bottom of the third inning. The second out cameonly after Yu-Chen Chiu scored on a ground out to extend the lead to 9-0. Lianghit a three-run home run and Sheng-Zhi Wu’s triple sent Hsieh to reach the homeplate. Sheng-Zhi Wu scored the final run after a throwing error by Hong Kong,who then conceded after the scoreless fourth inning.
