Nick Carter Faces Sexual Battery Lawsuit Stemming From Alleged 2001 Encounter With a Fan
Nick Carter has been sued for sexual battery stemming from an alleged encounter with a fan that took place in 2001.
The 42-year-old member of the Backstreet Boys was named in a lawsuit filed by Shannon “Shay” Ruth, 39, in Clark County, Nevada.
She detailed the encounter, which she said took place after a concert in Washington when she was 17. Nick would have been 21 at the time.

According to a report by Rolling Stone, Nick invited her to visit his tour bus. She said that he then gave her what she believed to be an alcoholic beverage before she was forced to engage in sexual acts.
The lawsuit states that she “begged him to stop” and that Nick said it would be their “special secret.”
Shay, who has autism and cerebral palsy, spoke out in a press conference.
“Even though I’m autistic and live with cerebral palsy, I believe nothing has affected me more … than what Nick Carter did to me,” she said, adding that he became “nasty and threatening” at the time.
Shay said that she was diagnosed with HPV after their encounter.
A source denied the allegations from the lawsuit in a statement shared with TMZ.
“This accusation is categorically false, Nick is focusing on his family and mourning the death of his brother,” they said.
This is not the first time that the musician has been accused of sexual misconduct. Singer Melissa Schuman accused him of rape in 2017, which he also denied.
Nick has been in the headlines following the tragic death of brother and fellow star Aaron Carter. He shared how his bandmates were supporting him following the horrible loss earlier this month.
