Christmas favourite ranks top in readers’ festive movie poll – but where does yours rank?
HIT rom-com The Holiday is the festive film that fans most want to see rebooted with a sequel.
A poll of 20,199 Sun readers ranked the glitzy movie starring Kate Winslet, 47, Cameron Diaz, 50, Jude Law, 49 and Jack Black, 53.
It follows The Sun’s exclusive story that producers had green lit a sequel to the 2006 film – and now our poll shows fans are gagging for it.
Ensemble classic Love Actually, which featured a huge cast including Hugh Grant, Liam Neeson and Emma Thompson, also rated.
Some 19 per cent of those questioned said they were most interested in a second outing of The Holiday and Love Actually.
Then 14 per cent mentioned Will Ferrell’s Elf.
It’s A Wonderful Life, from 1946, was chosen by 10 per cent of voters in the additional study by One Poll.
A follow-up to the black and white film, starring Jimmy Stewart as frustrated businessman George Bailey, was announced in 2013 but it was cancelled over copyright issues.
It’s a Wonderful Life: The Rest of the Story was expected to focus on the grandson of George’s youngest daughter, Zuzu.
In the original movie, Zuzu is best remembered as the child who tells George that “every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings.” .
Elsewhere in the Sun readers’ poll some 37 per cent named The Holiday as their favourite Christmas film of all time.
Home Alone, starring Macaulay Culkin, came second with 20 per cent, followed by Love Actually with 19.
Then 13 per cent waded into the debate over whether Die Hard really is a Christmas movie by naming the Bruce Willis action film as their favourite.
Other films mentioned include The Snowman, Polar Express, The Grinch and The Santa Clause.
Earlier this week The Sun told how the original lead quartet of stars of The Holiday would all feature in the new flick, 17 years on.
A source said: “The plan is to start filming next year.
“The main talent are all signed up.”
