LAGOS AUDITORS BENEFIT FROM ORACLE AUDIT TRAINING
The Lagos State Government, through the Office of the State Auditor-General in collaboration with CounterHouse Consultants Limited, has organised a Five-Day ‘Oracle Audit Training’ for Auditors at the Ministry of Science and Technology, Alausa on Thursday.
Declaring the workshop open, the Acting State Auditor-General, Mr. Moshood Adewale Adewuyi said the aim of the programme is to fill the gap in customised and focused training in Oracle E-Business Suites.
He urged the Auditors to avail themselves of the opportunity provided by the State Government, through the workshop, and familiarise themselves with the current trends in Oracle Auditing and its implications on audit assignments.
According to him, it has become imperative for the Auditors to acquire more knowledge about the Oracle platform as well as the financial aspect of the State, stressing that the financial status of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) runs on the Oracle Platform and the information gathered, will be used for the purpose of satisfying the Financial Information System Directorate (FIS) of MDAs, where Auditors usually request for their cashbook balances.
Adewuyi informed that, at the end of the five-day training, participants would be able to query and log on to the Oracle System of MDAs, in addition, they will also be able to screenshot and save onto their laptops evidence of any illegal transactions discovered, as they carry out audit assignments.
He stated further that the Oracle Audit knowledge will also help in phasing out the manual cashbook system of auditing and usher in digital auditing.
Highlighting the four key areas of the workshop, which include General Ledger, Cash Management, Human Resources Management System and Payroll, the Acting State Auditor-General, charged the Auditors to disclose their challenges to the facilitators, listen attentively and network among themselves to enhance their knowledge.
