Chinese Taipei’s two Wus wield home runs against Singapore to confirm title defence
Sheng-Zhi Wu and Yu-Yang Wu hit two of the three home runsthat powered Chinese Taipei to confirm their title defence bid, following their15-0 victory over Singapore in the semifinals on Saturday at the II WBSC U-12Softball World Cup at Jin-Long Stadium.
The hosts recorded 13 hits and 13 RBIs to keep their winningstreak going, including Sheng-Zhi Wu’s two hits and three RBIs and Yu-Yang Wu’stwo hits and two RBIs. The two Wus and En-Ruei Tsao are each attributed with ahome run.
Chinese Taipei had a four-run first inning, where Sheng-ZhiWu’s single made way for Yi-Cheng Liang to score the first run and the former’saggressive running sparked two more runs after he made it to the home plate.
In the second inning, all of Chinese Taipei’s five runs wereproducts of three home runs. Tsao earned the run after his inside-the-parkhomer, followed by Sheng-Zhi Wu’s inside-the-park homer gained two runs for himselfand Ya-Hsien Hsieh. Yu-Yang Wu closed the inning with a fabulous out-of-the-parkhomer for two runs to extend the lead to 9-0.
The home team pounded on every opportunity and earned theirbiggest haul of six runs in the third inning. En-Shih Hsu and Ya-Hsien Hsiehwere the tandem that capped the semifinal victory for Chinese Taipei, as thelatter singled to the right field.
