I get hate for wearing bodycon dresses with my belly bump but I don’t care, it’s normal
THE beauty of body shapes stems from their uniqueness, but some people like to shame people with bigger ones.
Body-positive enthusiast Bree Lenehan faced the trolls that believed she shouldn’t wear a tight-fitting dress with a belly bump and encouraged others to ignore them.
A form-fitting dress is supposed to hug your shape even if you have curves.
There are no rules on who can wear them, but Bree’s been told she shouldn’t.
The YouTuber frequently posts intuitive and inspiring content on body image perception as someone who has dealt with negativity surrounding that.
Her channel @BreeLenehan is dedicated to women working on feeling more confident in themselves and how they look.
She posted one video showcasing how her body fits into a tight dress.
Her caption reads: “The reality of wearing a tight bodycon dress (& being human).”
Bree’s wearing a baby blue maxi dress that clings to her shape.
“Reminder: It’s okay to not have a flat tummy,” she says.
Bree stands sideways, highlighting her visible belly bump.
She turns to the front, and you can see the definition of her round stomach.
As she sucks her belly in, she claims: “Even the people who look like they have a flat tummy 24/7 normally don’t most of the time.”
Bree breathes out to let her stomach go.
“You are normal,” she exclaims.
A moved fan wrote: “We needed to hear this. Thank you so much for your work.”
“Love love love how you normalize real bodies. You’re gorgeous,” one woman wrote.
One honest viewer admitted: “The worst part is I don’t even mind seeing it on others, I think it looks so cute and that belly looks fed properly.”
“As someone who would always suck in, to the point where I would stop breathing for lengthy periods of time, this is so refreshing,” another added.
