WICHITA, Kan. – Friends University sophomore forward Steve Staco has been named KCAC Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career, the league office announced today (Dec. 11).

Staco averaged six defensive rebounds, 1.5 blocks and 1.5 steals in the Falcons' two games this past week.

A native of Orlando, Fla., Staco had a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds along with a pair of blocks and two steals at Sterling last Saturday night (Dec. 10).

Staco is now second on the Falcons with 7.2 rebounds in his debut season with the program.

"This is a well-deserved honor for Steve," said Friends men's basketball head coach Austin McBeth. "He does a great job of playing physical all the time, and he was a big defensive presence for us against Sterling."

Staco and the Falcons are in action one final time prior to the Christmas Break tomorrow night (Dec. 13) at home vs. Tabor College as part of the KCAC "Road to Hartman" DH of the Week. Tip-off is set for 8 pm inside the Garvey Center.
