[Men's Basketball] LSU Gets First Two Wins on the Road
La Sierra picked up its first win of the season by edging Embry-Riddle in Prescott, Ariz., on Thursday, and closed out the weekend with a win over Park-Gilbert to leave Arizona 2-2 in the California Pacific Conference. Against ERAU, the two teams exchanged leads throughout the second half, but neither team was able to establish a big lead. The Eagles had a chance to tie with six seconds left but were unable to get a shot up before the clock ran out. LSU's Uriel Lejtman hit a jumper with just a little over a minute remaining to put the Golden Eagles up by three, 82-79, but on the next possession, ERAU's Jake Klinger connected on a layup with 47 seconds remaining to cut the lead back to one, which is where the score stood until a pair of Luke Alviar free throws with 19 seconds left put LSU back on top by three. The Eagles had a chance to tie with six seconds left but were unable to get a shot up before the clock ran out. Lejtman had a big night for LSU, pouring in 25 points and pulling in 11 rebounds, and Brandhon Thomas hit 5-of-6 3-pointers and finished with 21 points, and D'Lano Beckles added 11 points. ERAU's Chase Verdugo led all scorers with 27 points, mostly from a sizzling 7-of-11 from beyond the arc. Klingler finished 15 points, Dennis Pomazanov had a double-double with points and 12 rebounds, and Trevor Weir chipped in 11. Christmas Togiai, Jr. had a game-high seven assists.
