Henry Cavill Is Not Replacing Liam Hemsworth in 'The Witcher' After Losing Superman Gig & Fans Petition for Him to Tackle Another Iconic Project Instead

Fans hoping that Henry Cavill would return to Netflix’s The Witcher after ceding his role to Liam Hemsworth, presumably to play Superman again, are in for bad news.

On Wednesday (December 14), the 39-year-old actor confirmed that he would not be embodying the iconic superhero in future films for the DC Universe. The announcement came a few months after he teased “a bright future” for the role.

Although some would like to see Henry return to the Netflix series, it does not appear that any plans are in motion for that to happen. Meanwhile, other fans are petitioning for him to take on another iconic role.

A source from Netflix told Gizmodo’s io9 that there were no plans in motion to give Henry his role back in The Witcher. It was revealed that Liam would take over the part back in October.

Since that casting decision appears to be set in stone, some of Henry‘s fans took to social media to demand that the star get a chance to embody James Bond.

“But this means Henry Cavill can finally play James Bond, right,” one Twitter user asked.

“So about that James Bond vacancy,” another posted alongside photos of Henry.

“Maybe if they announce Henry Cavill as James Bond we can still right this wrong,” yet another tweeted.

The casting would make sense. Were you aware that Henry was the second choice to play the character in 2006′s Casino Royale. The part ultimately went to Daniel Craig.
